Position Summary:

As Product Manager, you will work with all functions of the company to develop and manage a product roadmap that maximizes Avidyne's market share, technology leadership, and the profitability. You must possess a unique blend of business acumen, market insight, and technical savvy.  You should enjoy spending time in the OEM and the aftermarket to understand their challenges and find innovative solutions.  You will define derivative solutions from existing product lines and help to define new strategic product initiatives.

As Product Manager you will be responsible for the product strategy, roadmap, features, implementation trade-offs, positioning, and launch. You must be able to create vision, inspire, and work across all areas of the company. You will work with engineering to define products requirements and continuously manage scope vs schedule.  You will work with marketing to define the go-to-market strategy, product positioning, key benefits, and target customers. You will work with sales to make them as effective as possible promoting the products.  And you will serve as the internal and external evangelist for Avidyne product lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an in depth understanding of the OEM and aftermarket customer unmet needs, key challenges, and capability gaps.
  • Maintain an in depth understanding of the current competitive offerings and develop an analysis of their expected product strategies.
  • Synthesize the customer and competitive data to identify opportunities for product derivatives, new products, technology innovation, and new markets.
  • Work with business development to identify and respond to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs that are in alignment with the product roadmap and revenue objectives.
  • Develop product roadmap proposals that include features, certification strategies, differentiation, pricing, COGS, schedules, development costs, and return on investment.
  • Work with the senior management team to develop a comprehensive prioritized product roadmap that maximizes market share and ROI within the available product development resources and budgets.
  • Work with engineering to develop product requirements including functional descriptions, features, cost targets, and schedules.
  • Continuously monitor the product development process, certification process, competitive landscape, and market conditions to proactively manage trade-offs with respect to features, schedules, costs.
  • Work with marketing to develop product positioning, launch strategies, sales training, and collateral material.
  • Manage new product introduction, integration, testing, and product issue resolution at the initial OEM and aftermarket customers.
  • Manage product structure, roadmaps, and terms for strategic vendor / partner that provide key components of the Avidyne product line.
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle including SILs, hardware revisions, software revisions, cost reductions, quality improvements, and end of life.

 Skills and Core Competencies:

  •  Active private pilot familiar with the aircraft, missions, maintenance issues, and avionics installations and upgrade options available to our prospective customers
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
  • Proven ability to develop product and strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in product development
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Excellent spoken and written communication and presentation skills


Education and Experience Requirements:

  •  College degree required, MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • >5 years experience in product management, product marketing, and business development


  • This position requires travel in North America, South America, and Europe (25%)
